The Return Of Christ
The idea that Jesus Christ will return to earth and set up a kingdom on earth over which He will reign for a literal 1,000 years is just not found in the Bible at all. The thousand years referred to in Revelation 20:2 is symbolic language for the reign of Christ who binds Satan from harming those who are saved. Christ presently rules in His spiritual kingdom, the church, and over the lives of His people. Neither is the idea of "the rapture" that is commonly taught today found in the Bible. Because neither of these concepts is found in the Scriptures, we will show how they contradict clear and simple passages and concepts found throughout the Bible. When false teachers devise doctrines that oppose Bible teachings, we must rebuke such and point people to the Truth.

The thousand year reign idea supposes Jesus Christ is coming back to earth to set up His kingdom and reign here on earth. But Christ is not coming back to earth to reign, not for a thousand years or even for a moment. He is reigning in His kingdom NOW. "As in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive... Then cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be abolished is death" (1 Cor. 15:22-26). When Jesus returns, the graves will all be opened, and the kingdom - which now exists as the church - will be delivered up to the Father.

According to prophesy, "the Son of man" received the kingdom, and is reigning in His spiritual kingdom, the church, when He ascended to heaven (Daniel 7:13-14; Acts 1:11; Colossians 1:13) not when He returns! He already had "all authority in heaven and on earth" (Matt. 28:18) when He ascended to heaven 2,000 plus years ago.

The concept of "the Rapture" is clearly against Bible teaching. Instead of the righteous quietly departing this earth in a resurrection prior to the ungodly, we learn that both the good and the bad will be raised at the same time. "For the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment" (John 5:28-29). The apostle Paul spoke of this clearly, "Having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection both of the just and the unjust (Acts 24:15). The apostle Paul wrote, "The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:16). The apostle John declares that "every eye shall see him" (Revelation 1:7). There will be no "secret" or "prior" resurrection for anyone! All will be raised at the same time!
